Event Details

This event is the launch of a report on a two-year project investigating women's lived experiences with city services in Toronto.  In-depth interviews and focus groups were conducted with ninety-nine women across Toronto to see how city services shape their lives as women living in Toronto on a daily basis.  Transit, Childcare, Housing and Civic Engagement are some of the many issues these women discussed.  While women enjoy living in a city as diverse as Toronto, there responses are clear examples that there are still many ways in which their needs are not being met.

A summary of the report will be presented, along with recommendations for action.  You will also hear directly from women who participated in the project about how city services in Toronto impact women with a range of experiences and identities.

Toronto Women's City Alliance

Toronto Women’s City Alliance was formed in 2004 by a diverse group of women who have been organizing to end the growing invisibility of girls’ and women’s voices and issues on the City of Toronto’s political agenda.  TWCA advocates for anti-racist, anti-poverty, and gender mainstreaming for Toronto.
